A CAMPBELLFIELD food importer and exporter has been named the most outstanding small business wholesaler in Victoria.
Family-owned and run Grand Foods, which has 1500 product lines, including yoghurt, cheese, pasta, desserts and kitchenware, took out the honour at the Australian Small Business Champions Awards on 8 September.
The Barry Rd company employs many local residents and is a significant contributor to Hume’s economy, according to national sales and marketing manager Dennis Bradley.
“We supply to Fresh Plus in Dallas and Roxburgh Park, Safeway in Broadmeadows and Morgan’s IGA in Meadow Heights,” Mr Bradley said.
He said local community members were great supporters of the products.
“A Turkish family founded the company and the Turkish community is very strong in the Broadmeadows, Meadow Heights area,” he said.
Any company is only as strong as the people it has working for it,” he said. “We spend time on ensuring our people are trained and capable of carrying out the duties they need to.”
